Two Mites

Mark 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, "Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast more in, than all they who have cast into the treasury: for all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living".

The value of a mite or a lepta (a small copper coin pictured here) is of very small value. Based on the penny or denarius a day labourers wage parable (Matthew 20:2) , a mite was half a quadron (Mark 12:42), there are 64 quadrons to a denarius (Augustan Values) so 2 mites is 1/64th of a days wage. Considering that the labouring day was 12 hours, 1/64 of 12 hours is 11.25 minutes work. In New Zealand at $14.00 per hour this equates to about $2.60 (less tax) about equivalent to one loaf of bread. (ref- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_coins)

Being vulnerable, stepping outside the comfort zone, acknowledging the working of God in your life, may be hard a first, but God will bless your efforts, as you sanctify Him to others. So throw your pieces into the treasury... you do not know what God will do with them!
