There was in heaven a battle, in days
of old
Between the devil and Michael, in Jude we are told
When over the body of Moses they disputed
And Satan the Angel of God confuted
"The Lord rebuke
thee"; only said Michael
Not a railing accusation from the arch-angel
Of Satan in truth would he speak no evil,
For Michael considered only God was able
Another time an Angel was sent it is written
For twenty one days the Prince of Persia withstood Him
Then Michael came to aide, and both did prevail
So the message could be given to beloved Daniel
Again we are told of a battle in heaven
When Michael and his angels fought with the dragon
The Devil and his fiends could not prevail
From out of heaven he was cast with his angels
Still in heaven battles are fought and
won
Sometimes they seem to have only begun
But through the smoke and clashing of swords
One thing remains triumphant, that is God's word

Let
the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
