Ekklesia
What is the Church, the Ekklesia?
It is not a building, it is not a place.
It is a calling out, the sound of a voice
Where the shepherd calls by name
Individually, personally, precisely
(place your name here) Come follow me,
You will know the voice, a familiar voice
There will be no mistake
A voice you have heard many times before
Saying "this is the way walk in it."
Then you will know and step out
Leaving behind family ties, the hindrances, the things that bind
Pressing toward the mark, focused on the goal
Of the high calling, the heavenly calling,
Following to places you would not wish to go
Walking beside the still water, and the dark lonesome valley
Just to speak one word to him who is weary
Casting your bread on the waters
That one day they too may hear that voice
Come follow me.

Joh 10:2 But he that entereth in by the door
is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear
his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when
he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him:
for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee
from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
Jer 4:5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
Ekkleesia in the New Testament never means the building or house of assembly, because church buildings were built long AFTER the apostolic age. It means an organized body, whose unity does not depend on its being met together in one place; not an assemblage of atoms, but members in their several places united to the One Head, Christ, and forming one organic living whole (1 Corinthians 12). The bride of Christ (Eph_5:25-32; Eph_1:22), the body of which He is the Head. There is another way of outreach... Calling the people by name to an event or other that is not precieved to be church. shall be one fold, and one shepherd....
