It Was Never Done This Way Before!
An advisor is there to guide you,
Informing you of an actions consequences,
Suggesting safe paths, acceptable risks
Drawing from past experience, history and others
Vast resources of knowledge, theories and practice
Pointing you to smooth roads and gentle inclines
However
If Moses had an advisor would he have ever gone down to Egypt?
Would he have ever smitten the red sea?
Would he ever have spoken water from the rock?
"It was never done this way before!"
If Joshua had measured the strength
of Jericho's walls?
Had he used another's historical based logic
Would he ever have marched around the thick walls?
"It was never done this way before!"
If Gideon ever had a military advisor
Would he have calculated only three hundred men?
Would he have thought covered lamps were a strategy?
"It was never down this way before!"
If David had considered his own personal
safety
Running toward goliath with small stones in his hand
Would Saul's armour or sharp sword not have been better?
"It was never done this way before!"
If the widow had valued her life and
her son
Would she have fed Elijah a cake first?
Did a hand full of meal look sufficient for many months?
"It was never done this way before!"
If the prophets had valued their popularity
Would they have ever prophesied God's word
Angry crowds, beatings, prison and death
"It was never said that way before!"
If the three hebrew men had used a consultant
Would they have submitted to the furnaces flames
Would not bowing have been a far simpler solution
"It was never done this way before!"
If Jesus had taken Peter's stern rebuke
Would the cross have been a viable option
What advice would you have given your best friend ever?
"It was never done this way before!"
If Paul had heeded Agabus's prophesy,
the others calls not to go.
Would he have had the opportunity reach those on his journey
The Centurion, the prisoners, the Governor, Publius and Caesar
"It was never done this way before!"
Whose direction do you take? whose words
do you heed?
Whose instructions, consultations and guidance?
The voice from the cloud that said "Hear ye Him"
This Son in whom I am well pleased.
The Comforter sent in Christ's name, shall teach you
Bringing all things to your remembrance,
Showing you things from the Father, to come
Guiding you into all truth, A Father son relationship
Until you can say "Never the less not my will but your's be done"
Speaking His will, Breathing His will, Doing His will,
Being His will on earth.
"It was never done this way before!"
