The Great Shepherd
The Sheep were feasting down by the
still waters
The green grass of revelation lush on every hand
Nothing to fear the Shepherd watching over
Keeping
away the lions, bears and wolves
Standing as a gate between them and
that which would hurt them
The Great Shepherd guarding watching
The
overseers were watching making sure all are fed
Listening for His call that warns them
of danger
Pleading
with all to take heed to the voice
Tending
to the young, weak, torn and sore
Encouraging them to go to the Great
Shepherd
For a blessing, healing, comfort and
love
The hireling shepherds are calling 'follow
me I know the way'
Shepherds who work for money not with
love and compassion
Those who do not really care for the
bleating of the sheep
Shepherds who desert in time of crisis,
who will not work 24/7
These loudly call but His sheep will
not follow
The sheep are deaf to the cries, to
strangers they will not heed
The pasture has become trampled, the
grass crushed by many feet
The still waters consumed, muddied by
many thirsty heads
The sheep have become hungry; they compete
for the last blades of grass
They bleat in desperation they cry out
for hunger
The weak and the dying plead for new
pasture
The grass has all gone, it
is time to move on
Individual names are being
called in the distance
The Good Shepherd has risen and is calling
His sheep
They gather around waiting in anticipation
He counts each head to leave not one
behind
"Come" they hear "Keep
close in my footsteps"
They journey begins to the new lush
grass of joy.
